Service Dogs for

Chronic illness

We Make it Easier for Arkansans with Chronic Illness to Get the Service Dogs They Need to Live Better Lives

Dogs hold the incredible potential to be not only our friends and family members, but to serve people in need. At Saving Grace Service Dogs, our mission is to train exceptional service dogs to help people in Arkansas who face challenges due to chronic illnesses.

Teaching real skills that impact the lives of people with chronic illness

By training service dogs with their owners, the dogs are even more equipped to help with a variety of needs for someone with a chronic illness. From helping with physical tasks and accessibility barriers, to easing discomfort, a service dog can help their owners start to live better lives.

Each dog is trained to complete tasks that are needed. These tasks are decided upon by the team, including the person needing the service dog.

Can my dog be trained to be around medical equipment or mobility devices?

Yes! Dogs can be trained to walk beside walkers or wheelchairs. Dogs can be trained to avoid medical tubing.

How long does it take to train a service dog?

The general timeline is 12-18 months. However, we work at the pace of the dog and the person needing the dog.

Could my dog come with me to Doctor's appointments or while I am hospitalized?

Yes! The dog can come with you to Doctor’s appointments, as long as a sterile field is not required. Dogs can be with you in the hospital, but only with a support person who could take care of the dog’s needs since you would not be able to.
