Trainer School
Learn to Teach Others How to Train Service Dogs
What to Expect
To start things off, prospective trainers should plan to attend the orientation meeting. At orientation, prospective trainers will learn exactly what the program entails.
From there, you will decide whether or not you wish to move forward. Once committing to the program, you will set off on a Trainer Intensive Weekend in Little Rock! This weekend is designed to build practical knowledge and to get you acquainted with the training material.
After that, your training begins! If you are a trainer with disabilities, you will set off on the journey to train your own service dog. If you are a trainer without disabilities, you will start training a demonstration dog who will be a leading example for others. From there, trainers are expected to train 3 more dogs for in the community.
How to graduate as a service dog trainer
The Trainer Program is designed for those with a love for dogs and a heart for those with disabilities. Your participation in the Trainer Program helps make a service dog more accessible for someone in need, even if you are that someone in need.
The Trainer Program requires a long-term commitment to the training of 4 service dogs, one for yourself or as a demonstration dog, and three for the community. Through the help of Saving Grace Service Dogs, once you complete our Trainer Program, you are a part of a community of service dog trainers that can help share their knowledge and help others.
